VIGILANCE NABS EXCISE INSPECTOR FOR TAKING BRIBE RS. 40,000
Chandigarh, March 25: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an Excise Inspector posted at Gidderbaha in Sri Muktsar Sahib district red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Excise Inspector Deep Didar Singh was nabbed red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000 from complainant Gurmeet Singh of village Daanewala, Sri Muktsar Sahib.
The complainant has approached the VB and said that he is a liquor contractor and the above said excise inspector has been threatening and demanding bribe of Rs. 60,000 from him. He further said that he had already paid Rs. 20,000 to him as a first installment.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused excise inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000/- of second installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
