UK announces visa extensions until May 31 for all foreign nationals in country
New Delhi, March 25: The United Kingdom has announced visa extensions until May 31 for all foreign nationals in the country.
The extension is meant to provide some much-needed relief to foreign nationals who are unable to return home due to these restrictions, said a British High Commission statement.
Individuals who are in the UK and whose visa expired after January 24 should e-mail the British Home Office to receive an extension till May 31. The UK is also temporarily expanding the in-country switching provisions. This will mean people can apply to switch routes, such as from Tier 4 (student) to Tier 2 (General Worker), whilst remaining in the UK.
This announcement will hopefully provide some reassurance to the many Indian nationals currently in the UK. Separately, in India, my staff and I are working,” said Acting High Commissioner to India Jan Thompson.
The statement quoted British Home Secretary Priti Patel as saying the extension of visas will give people peace of mind and also ensure that those in vital services can continue their work.
