Singla assumes office as Education Minister
Issues Appointment letters to 5178 teachers
Chandigarh, June 13:
In an extremely welcome gesture, straight after assuming office as Education Minister Punjab, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla issued appointment letters to 5178 teachers.
Giving details, the Minister said that the Department of School Education had recruited 5178 teachers in the schools situated in the rural areas in the master cadre in the year 2014-15 and 2016. These teachers were recruited for a period of 3 years on contract basis with the condition that their cases shall be considered for regularization provided they fulfil the necessary conditions.
He said that Council of Ministers approved their formal induction into the department as regular employees in March 2019. With the eviction of Model Code of Conduct they have now been appointed as regular employees of the Department.
Mr. Singla said that quality education is must for a State to progress. Hence, he would focus primarily on for qualitative up-gradation and smooth functioning of the department. Regular surprise checks of the schools would also be undertaken and feedback would be sought from all concerned for improvement in School Education System.
He appealed to all the employees of the department to work hand in hand for the noble cause of development of school education.
Mr. Krishan Kumar IAS, Secretary School Education along with other officers of the Department was present on the occasion.
