Punjab Vidhan Sabha issues notice to Khaira for disqualification

Chandigarh, January 21:  The Punjab Vidhan Sabha has issued notice to Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira today, for disqualification under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India.

            Divulging the details, a spokesperson of Punjab Vidan Sabha said that Harsimran Singh s/o Ranjit Singh, resident of Village Metla, Bholath, Kapurthala and Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA and Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly,  in their respective petitions dated 10.01.2019 and 16.01.2019 have made references to the Speaker for Khaira’s disqualification under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India.

            He said that as directed by the Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Khaira has been given 15 days to file his reply as to why action under the above provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India should not be initiated against him.

In case of failure to file the reply within the stipulated period, it will be presumed that Khaira has nothing to say in this regard, the spokesperson further added.
