Chandigarh, Dec 10

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has placed under suspension the services of two judicial officers at Bathinda and Nabha. Available information suggests that the services of Bathinda Civil Judge (Junior Division) Sachal Babbar and Nabha Civil Judge (Junior Division) Harmanjit Singh Deol have been placed under suspension.

A decision in this regard was taken on the administrative side by the Chief Justice and the judges of the High Court during a full court meeting.

Indications are that the High Court, in exercise of powers under Article 235 of the Constitution and Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal), Rules, suspended Deol in contemplation of disciplinary proceedings.

During the period of suspension, Deol’s headquarters would be at Patiala. He would not leave the headquarters during the period without prior permission of Patiala District and Sessions Judge.
