Parliamentary polls-2019: AAP contested on core public-centric issues: Bhagwant Mann

Mann lavishes praise on Punjab voters for their overwhelming participation in election process

Chandigarh, May 20

Punjab unit chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and sitting Member of Parliament (MP) from Sangrur, Bhagwant Mann, expressed his satisfaction over the unflagging enthusiasm exhibited by the people of Punjab, especially Sangrur  and Bathinda Lok Sabha segments, and thanked them for taking active part in the mega festival of democracy which concluded on May 19.

In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Monday, AAP leader said that the party had contested Lok Sabha elections purely on the core issues concerning all categories of people. Mann added that the party performed its role as the principal opposition party in Punjab assembly bringing the incidents of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Behbal Kalan Kotkapura and 3-decade old Nakodar desecration and firing incidents to the ken of the common man.

He added that not only did the party raise peoples’ core issues of concerns but also unveiled the ‘misdeeds’ of the preceding mafia BJP-SAD government in the state, besides flogging the ruling Captain government in the state and the saffron government at the centre for backing out from the promises these made to the people, including the widows, farmers and farm hands, unemployed, traders/business community and others in the state.

The AAP leader said notwithstanding the fact that the AAP was a party which had no resources, money or muscle power of its own but had the peoples’ unstinted love and affection as their strength to wage the battle of ballot. On the other hand, Cheema said, were high and mighty mafia lords – the SAD-BJP allies, and the coal-scam riddled Congress government, who fought on money and muscle power, openly resorting to influencing voters through money and muscle power.

Cheema alleged that there was a free flow of liquor and misuse of official machinery to woo voters and hop on to the power corridor by hook or by crook. “We are looking forward to better performance this time around than we did in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls”, Cheema said with optimism writ large on his face
