NEW DGP FORMALLY INTRODUCED TO CABINET, ASSURES OF SAFETY & PEACE OF STATE AT ALL COSTS
Chandigarh, February 8: The new DGP of Punjab, Dinkar Gupta, on Friday assured the government that he would take all possible steps to ensure that the peaceful and safe environ in the state is maintained.
The DGP, who was formally introduced to the cabinet led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, said he would continue to uphold the high levels of professional conduct set by his predecessor, Suresh Arora, and ensure fair policing for one and all.
The Cabinet, on the occasion, recorded its appreciation for the former DGP Suresh Arora, under whose leadership the police force made major strides in combating crime and maintaining law & order.
Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal felt that while the police force on the state was doing remarkably well in handling the multiple challenges faced by Punjab, there was need to align it more effective towards higher levels of productivity.
Dinkar assured the minister that he would work to find ways and means of making productive use of the funds allocated to the force, while ensuring that there is no compromise on the policing duties of the men.
The cabinet extended full support to the police force in strengthening its capabilities and capacities to meet the new challenges faced by the state in the contemporary scenario.
