Faridkot police recover motorcycle used in dera deputy head’s killing

Over a month after the killing of the deputy head of a dera in the district, the Faridkot police have recovered the motorcycle that the assailants had allegedly used in the crime, from a canal near Rara Sahib in Ludhiana district.
The bike was recovered after the questioning of accused Lakhwinder Singh and Amrik Singh on Thursday. The police had got five days’ remand of these accused on Wednesday after they were brought on production warrants from Madhya Pradesh.
After the killing of Baba Dayal Das of Dera Har Ka Dass at Kot Sukhia village on November 7, the police were under immense pressure to solve this case as dera followers were demanding the arrest of the culprits before the cremation of the deceased.
The police investigation has revealed that the murder was the outcome of struggle for the throne in the dera. To get the top chair in the dera, one of the aspirants had hired a contract killer to eliminate his rival.
Last month, the police had arrested two persons, Amarjit Singh of Chugawan (Moga) and Harmeet Singh of Kapure (Moga) who had done the recce of Har ka Das Dera on November 7 and acting on the information provided by them, gangster Lakhwinder and his associate Amrik had allegedly reached the dera on this bike and killed the deputy head using fire arms on November 7.
