New Delhi, January 14 : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) will oppose the bail plea of convict Sajjan Kumar in 1984 sikh genocide case. This was stated by Mr Manjinder Singh Sirsa General Secretary of the DSGMC here today.

Welcoming the decision of the Supreme Court to not to immediately accept bail plea of Sajjan Kumar, Mr.  Sirsa said that the culprit is high profile and influential leader who ducked the law all these 34 years and even the High Court has commented on his political influence while sentencing him to life term.

 He said that the DSGMC will strongly oppose his bail plea when it comes for hearing after six weeks. He said that if he is granted bail he can not only influence his own case but can also influence other cases related with the genocide which are in various stages of hearing. He said that Once out on bail Sajjan Kumar will also threaten the witnesses who deposed against him and others whose deposition is very important in other cases.

Mr. Sirsa said that if Sajjan Kumar is given bail it will also boost morale of other accuses who are on verge of getting punishment. He said that the Sikh body will leave no stone unturned to ensure that Sajjan Kumar is not granted bail and other accused also get punishment for their roles in genocide cases.
