–flower and fruit bearing plants to adorn Barnala city’s roads

     The District administration Barnala is all geared up to turn Barnala city as an example for others to emulate in terms of greenery. Through its forest department, the administration aims at planting 1.5 lacs saplings within the city limits that will adorn the city roads. 

  Giving this information here today the Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr. Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka stated that special plan has been laid to beautify and make city greener. All the main roads leading to city are being planted with saplings that will have fruit bearing and flower bearing trees. 

    He added that the road stretch from ITI Chowk to Handiaya Chowk will be adorned with Gulmohar and Jacaranda. Blessed with thick canopies these trees will provide shade during intense summer and also add to the beauty. Besides this, fruit bearing plants will be planted from court road to Handiaya Chowk including Amaltas, Kachnar, Chakresia, Arjun etc.

Besides these, the mangoes, jamun, mulberry, goose berry (amla), Indian rosewood (tahli), neem, chinaberry (barkain) etc are being planted. 


Deputy Commissioner added that the green movement has already been started in district a week ago under which departments have been allocated different roles. Tree guards also being installed for the trees, Mr. Phoolka added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner invited industrial units and NGOs to come forward to adopt parks, which are being set up under flyovers and also to donate tree guards.




Moga bypass to be adorned with traditional/Native plants 


Mr. Phoolka said that the vacant lying intersection area of Moga bypass road will be adorned with traditional plants of high medicinal value such as suhanjna, Dhakk, kachnar, pilkhim, bahera, harsingar, khajoor etc.
