Co- to encourage and inspire youth to actively consider entrepreneurship as their career choice space in EDC Building
Chandigarh.14 January,2021: In an effort to give impetus to the startup ecosystem in this region, SPIC under the aegis of Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration is setting up state of the art co-working space of 100 seats in EDC building located in Chandigarh Technology Park which would be first of its kind of co-working space in this region to be developed and managed directly by any government department. The idea of co-working space was conceived to create platform for technology based startups and actively identify and provide value added services required to support startup and strengthen startup culture in city and to encourage and inspire youth to actively consider entrepreneurship as their career choice.
Mr. Vinod P Kavle, IAS, Secretary Information Technology , Chandigarh Administration said” creating Co-working space is the right step forward in boosting & nurturing innovation and creativity. It gives a perfect platform to young entrepreneurs to connect with individuals which creates a conducive environment for innovative ideas to flourish. This will further help in promoting entrepreneurship among youth and will create more job opportunities.”
Ms. Nazuk Kumar, IAS, Director Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration said” This co-working will have all the amenities which are being offered in the private market. This co-working space which will be more cost effective for business opposed to larger lease and will help to create a community of innovators. “
This space would cater to students and young entrepreneurs who have an workable idea which needs hatching and also for startups who doesn’t have much capital to invest in private office. Co-working space in EDC building will be much more than standard office with no cubicles rather convenient hot desks sitting where one can work. This space will have glass-walled private offices and write on the wall confer rooms, separate video conference room, there will be plenty of space for collaboration when teams get together. It will be a conducive place for heads- down productivity with bookable meeting rooms and sleek private rooms. This space is coming up on third floor of EDC building and is being created in roughly 5000 Sq ft area.
A high- quality interactive web portal will be created along with list of mentors so that startups can then identify mentors, interact with them and gain guidance. Portal will also have a database of subject matters specialist, researchers, faculty, and Venture capitalist.
