Chandigarh, April 16: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday greeted the people of the state especially the Jain community on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.

In a message, the Chief Minister called upon the different sections of the society to follow the philosophy and teachings of Lord Mahavira- an apostle of non-violence, peace and harmony, who propagated the principles of simple living and high thinking to achieve the ultimate goal of salvation towards the path of humanity. Captain Amarinder Singh said that Lord Mahavira’s teachings of universal brotherhood, compassion and sacrifice would ever reflect our age old legacy of rich moral values to guide the mankind for leading a pious and meaningful life in the present materialistic society.

The Chief Minister appealed the people to follow the path shown by Lord Mahavir ji to celebrate this auspicious occasion with religious fervor to further strengthen the secular and social bonds of our pluralistic society.
