CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER PUNJAB ISSUES GUIDELINES REGARDING FACILITIES TO BE PROVIDED TO VOTERS ON VOTING DAY
CHANDIGARH, MAY 15: The Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab Sh. S. Karuna Raju on Wednesday issued directions for compliance of ECI’s guidelines regarding facilities to be provided to voters on Voting Day May 19 in letter and spirit.
As per the Election Commission of India guidelines, posters are to be displayed as per requirement for facilitation of voters, drinking water facility, chairs for sitting, tent, medical kits, besides arrangement of electricity for fans and setting up of help desk, sinages for toilets, volunteers, creche and attendant facility for kids accompanying voters, arrangement of voter line and posters for general assistance of voters.
In addition to this, it has been instructed to ensure special arrangements for People with Disability (PWD) including facility of dedicated helpline line number 1950, to and from transport facility, wheel chairs, ramp facility at the building where voting is to take place besides availability of volunteers for their guidance, facility of voting without waiting in queue, EVM in Braille language and posters in sign language.
