CANCEL ALL EXAMS SFS ON UGC GUIDELINES
SFS opposes the decision of conducting exams of terminal semesters by MHRD in September. UGC have yet again, published a set of vague guidelines with no real assurance for the students. All the reasons cited beforehand for exploring other means of evaluation like assignments and projects remain viable to date. There have been no classes whatsoever after 30 March and students have gravely insufficient study material and most don’t even have a sound internet connectivity. Students shouldn’t be given Real Time online examination because of many reasons related to the lack of ICT resources and sound & equivalent home atmosphere for all students. Moreover there shouldn’t be offline exams as there has been a long gap of students from education and classes. Till that gap is filled by regular classes, testing students via examination is absolutely absurd. And finally addressing the elephant in the room, the COVID-19 curve is nowhere near flattening.
We reiterate the fact that Examinations are culmination of a long term process of teaching, learning and interaction in the campus which concludes to educating an individual. Such methods of taking a test by harassing the students won’t be useful for anybody. University need to ensure the mental and physical well-being of the students at this hard time by cooperating with the demands of the student’s community.
We demand that the Examination for all semesters should be cancelled unconditionally and equivalent credit should be given through assignments or other projects.
