BREACH OF 170 FEET IN VILLAGE BHOLEWAL KADEEM PLUGGED

Chandigarh /Ludhiana: With the sturdy efforts of the District Administration and local residents the 170 breach in the Satluj near  village Bholewal Kadeem was plugged. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal said that the work on the strengthening of the bridge will continue and it will keep under surveillance round the clock. He said that for the security and surveillance of the bridge a roster of senior officers under the leadership of Mr Amarinder Singh Malli. SDM, Ludhiana (west), Mr. Rupinder Pal Singh, Superintending Engineer, Drainage Department has been made and the officers have been put on duty with immediate effect.

The Deputy Commissioner in a press communiqué released here said that he got the information of breach in Bholewal Kadeem on August 19 and he immediately started the work for plugging this breach with the help of technocrats.  He said that this breach was 170 feet wide and 45 feet deep. He applauded the efforts of senior officers of the district administration, local residents and other social organizations who worked in tandem to plug this breach.

The Deputy Commissioner said that though there is no fear now even then the district administration was not taking any chance and the bridge will be kept under 24×7 surveillance and the senior officers have been pressed into service to keep a close tab on the bridge. He said that village Ahlowal, Shani Gawon, Nawan Khaira etc were most affected by the flood water. He said that administration had been constantly providing relief material to the villages besides medical aid and fodder for the livestock.

He said that Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Water Resources Minister,Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Food ,Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister , Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu, Member Parliament, Mr. Kuldeep Singh Vaid,MLA, Mr. Sanjay Tawal, MLA had constantly been keeping tab on the relief activities and they had made many rounds of the affected areas to keep moral of the teams doing the relief work and local residents high.

Mr.Aggarwal said that near village Ghari Fazal a 70 feet wide breach was also about to happen, but due to the timely intervention of the district administration the disaster was averted.
