Amrinder must apologies for intemperate language: Dr. Cheema
Chandigarh, Sept 11: Taking strong exception to unsavory remarks of Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh on union minister for food processing Bibi Harsimrat Kaur Badal, senior vice president of the Shiromani Akali Dal Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema said that Amarinder is not repository of all knowledge that he arrogates the right to distribute certificate of wisdom to all and sundry, including the union minister.
In a hard hitting statement issued here from the party headquarters, the Cheema censured Amarinder Singh for using intemperate and abusive language against a woman union minister and urged him to express an unqualified apology as the expression he used in not in good taste.
Cheema said that by using intemperate language, Amarinder Singh has compromised the dignity of women. This reflects his feudalistic mindset of treating women as secondary creature, the Akali leader asserted.
On Amarinder Singh assertion that he is not politicizing the celebrations, Chema said that an ordinary devout Sikh could decipher that the Congress is resorting to derive political mileage with the celebrations of 550th birth anniversary of Gurunanak Devji.
Dr Cheema said that the as par the directions of the Akal takht, there should be one stage and all political parties, organizations and government should participate to give a message of unity and universal brother hood.
In celebration of such an important socio-religious event, the Akali leader pointed that the government has a tremendous role but unfortunately, the government has done precious little on this score and spent not a penny from its exchequer except the funds released by the Union government.
Even earlier, such mega events, including 3rd centenary celebrations of birth of Khalsa in 1999, have been organized successfully and magnificently by SGPC under the auspicious guidance of the Akal takht, said Cheema adding that Bihar chief minister Natish Kumar too had mega celebrations in Patna in recent years under the guidance of Jathedar Patna Sahib where the government played a historic role.
Unfortunately, Amarinder had turned the tables and is keen to call shots on all fronts yet he pretends to be innocent asserting that he or Congress is not politicizing the religious event, rued Akali leader.
