AAP leadership to conduct meetings with office bearers, local leaders and MC candidates from Monday
Chandigarh, February 21, 2021
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will hold a series of meetings in all the four zones of the state from Monday to review the local bodies’ elections and hold discussions on further strengthening the party. A statement issued from the party headquarters said that the AAP leadership would conduct meetings with all the office bearers, local leaders and MC candidates from all over the Punjab from Monday to analyse the condition of the organisation and discuss a strategy to strengthen the party for the upcoming 2022 assembly elections.
These meetings would be convened under the leadership of AAP state president and MP Bhagwant Mann, senior leader of the party and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema, party’s Punjab incharge Jarnail Singh and co-incharge Raghav Chadha in all the four zones of the state. The statement said that the AAP had contested the municipal bodies’ elections for the first time and had got a good response from the people. “The response from the people in urban areas of Punjab was overwhelming, an area which was traditionally weak for the party. However, seeing a major scope of improvement, the AAP leadership would conduct zone wise meetings from tomorrow,” reads the statement.
The AAP said that the primary aim of the meeting would be to meet all the stakeholders involved in recent local bodies’ polls and motivate them to keep fighting for the people of Punjab and for a progressive change that the state deserves. The AAP said that the meetings with the office bearers, local leaders and MC candidates will encourage them for the way they had fought despite the bullying by the ruling Congress party with the help of the government machinery. The local leaders will be encouraged to work harder to make a better and prosperous Punjab. The statement further said that the people of Punjab still see the AAP as the only alternative and ray of hope that can bring about real change in the state.
The AAP said that while in power, the traditional parties in Punjab did nothing for the people. “All the traditional parties of Punjab have failed to develop the state; they have failed to make the lives of the people better,” the party added. The AAP further said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had failed to fulfill many of his promises and had failed as a CM. Also, various mafias operating in Punjab were plundering the splendor of the state. Under these circumstances, the AAP is seen as the only alternative. The statement said that the AAP would create a stronger team and a stronger organisation and these meetings were a starting step towards that.
