2 killed, six injured in mishaps in Abohar
Abohar, Dec 24: Two persons were killed and six injured in different mishaps in Abohar and Sriganganagar today as fog engulfed the region.
Rachna (26) was killed and her brother Dharminder (29) was injured as a truck reportedly hit the bike they were riding on the Hanumangarh-Abohar bypass in Sriganganagar. A case was registered against the driver who fled after the mishap leaving behind the vehicle. Dozens of people disrupted traffic. They lifted the protest when officials accepted their demand to construct a road divider.
Naresh Bablu (22), a mason, died when he allegedly overtook a private school van but his bike skidded and he was run over. Onlookers staged a dharna outside the school but the police pacified them by saying that that the driver who fled away after the accident had been booked.
Three persons — Pinky, Mohinder Singh and Raj Kaur — of Seed Farm here were injured as the pickup van that was ferrying labourers to pluck kinnow fruits collided with a car near a temple in Hathianwali village on the Abohar-Hanumangarh road.
Charanjit Singh and Buta Singh of Bhangala village here were injured as the pickup van they were using to collect kinnow collided with a mini-truck. —
